Your Top-Tier WordPress Hosting Company — Two Years Running!

Eco Web Hosting is delighted to announce that, for the second year running, we are officially a Top Tier Hosting Company, according to Review Signal’s WordPress Hosting Performance Benchmarks.

Review Signal has been producing benchmark reviews of WordPress hosting packages since 2014, analysing how companies handle traffic to their hosted WordPress sites. By using applications that make it seem like a rush of people are visiting the website, they record how the hosting service responds, including uptime and performance, and then compare those results against other web hosts.

For 2022, we submitted our Basic Managed WordPress hosting package, as did 23 other companies. Review Signal set up a WordPress site on our Basic package, then ran the tests. For full disclosure, we paid a fee to be accepted into the review, and have also approved Review Signal for our affiliate program, but neither of these has any impact on the testing or review process.

Peak Performance Testing

Review Signal uses K6 LoadStorm to emulate an influx of users to the site, and records how well the package adapts to the sudden increase in traffic. With LoadStorm, 1,000 emulated users visit the test site’s home page, log into the Admin section, and visit pages and posts on the site, starting at one user and then scaling up to 1,000 users over 20 minutes, then keeping it at peak load for 10 more minutes.  Review Signal also used K6 Static to test the site’s home page, scaling up from one to 1,000 users over a 15-minute duration to test the caching qualities.

During our LoadStorm test, we had an average response time of 177 milliseconds, which puts us lower than the all-company average of 181 milliseconds, with 326,444 requests performed in that 30-minute period. Our Static response time was 55 milliseconds, compared to the all-company average of 191 milliseconds, with 427,021 requests performed in the 15-minute period.

Uptime Testing

Over three months, Review Signal tracks the package’s uptime using HetrixTools and Uptime Robot, with a self-hosted monitor also keeping watch in case of a major discrepancy between the two results. Both HetrixTools and Uptime Robot recorded 100% uptime for our WordPress hosting package, meaning there was absolutely no downtime during the recording period. This is great compared to the all-company average of 99.9606%, but it should be noted that no hosting service can ever actually offer 100% uptime and that even 99.9606% is only approximately six minutes over a three-month period.

Global Page Loading

Review Signal used WebPageTest to check the Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) loading time of the package’s homepage from 12 locations around the world — Virginia, California, and Utah in the USA, London in the UK, Frankfurt in Germany, Cape Town in South Africa, Singapore, Mumbai in India, Tokyo in Japan, Sydney in Australia, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, and Brazil. Our average response time around the world was 43 milliseconds, lower than the all-company average of 79 milliseconds.

Being a company based in the UK, we did unsurprisingly well in London and Frankfurt, with a response time of 17 and 20 milliseconds, respectively. This is much faster than the all-company average for both cities, being 42 milliseconds and 52 milliseconds. While our CDN is expanding further and further regularly, we still do not have a node in Australia, which gives us a loading speed of 83 milliseconds.

Overall Results

While Review Signal provides results for uptime testing, global loading speeds, and other tests, the only results that are judged are the Peak Performance results. And thanks to our fast and responsive Managed WordPress package, we were placed in the Top Tier category.

Eco Web Hosting was tied for fourth fastest average response time and had fourth fastest p95 on the Static test. Eco Web Hosting picked up the fastest speed in Cape Town on the WPT benchmark and third fastest average. Eco Web Hosting also handled the Load Storm test without issue. Throw in some perfect uptime on both monitors and you’ve earned a Top Tier award. Congrats.

We’re proud that we achieved this status on our lowest tier Managed WordPress package, showing you can have fast loading times, fantastic uptime, and a responsive website on a package that costs only £5.99 a month.

You can see all the companies that were included in these tests, as well as their results, on the WordPress Hosting Benchmarks website. And if you have any questions about our Managed WordPress packages, just talk to us — we’re more than happy to help.
